Closing shop. [Dec. 23rd, 2005|01:13 am]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |"Every Planet We Reach is Dead" - Gorillaz]

I've got a new lj username. If you see a new name on your flist (and you'll know it's me by the first entry, and, well, the icons), consider yourself loved.

I'm what Steve Burns is to the Flaming Lips. [Dec. 21st, 2005|10:13 pm]
[Current Mood | listless]

Well. Okay. No.

I re-recorded Moon Man, and as with Trigger Finger Still, I'm still waffling between feeling like it's finished and anything else would be overkill and feeling like there's still something about it that's unresolved.

Arg. I don't know. There are albums that sound like albums to me, and then there are albums that sound like a bunch of songs. I want to write an album that sounds like an album, but I don't know how. I am pretty sure I am getting closer to it. But. I dunno. It's just progressing so slowly. And I'll get mad at myself for being ten times more guilty of all the things that irk me about the pros.

Well. Anyway. I have a favor to ask. For you long-time listeners and, okay, more recent ones if you'd like to participate, can you please list what you've got in the way of me mp3s (or RealMedia audio if you're sneaky like Rachel), old and new and covers, even? I have upwards of 30 me mp3s on my hard drive at present but would like to know what I might have lost after Luci, Wen, and Astrid, if any. Plus I'm just curious.

Kthnx.

Oh, for Katie.

Sleep, now. Tomorrow: rifle through inbox and check shipments.

Someone broke into my car.

Not that there was anything of value in it.

But. Yeah. Merry Christmas.

Metric Videos [Dec. 18th, 2005|09:15 pm]
[Current Mood | good]
[Current Music |Metric, duh.]

Monster Hospital
The List
Dead Disco
Combat Baby
Succexy
Calculation Theme

They're on the website but I wanted to save them to my HD but my "save as" function is acting funny, so I had to source them and make new links. So. Yeah. I love Metric. Supposedly they're going to be at the HOB in March but Ticketmaster only has the LA show date up as of yet. I'm so going.

Tomorrow I have to mail out the ibook formerly known as Candy. Hrrm.

If you laser etch your powerbook, do you really void the warranty? I guess I'll have to hold off on doing anything arty with mine for a year or so. O_O Or just order a skin and paint that or something.

Edit: I guess you don't void the warranty. Hrm. ::gears turning::

I've posted worse. [Dec. 17th, 2005|03:25 pm]
[Current Music |"Trigger Finger Still" - The Alter Ego Breakfast Band]

Trigger Finger Still (2.8mb)

Lyrics behind the cut. )

We still contend that I have little sense of rhythm.

I don't know how to feel about it. Part of me thinks, okay, it's finished. It's minimal, it's supposed to sound far away and desolate. Part of me thinks that shortly after the bells start, I should rock out for six more minutes, a la Tori on Choirgirl.

I need a midi keyboard and a better mic.

What say you? Weird jump, or sufficiently Kathyesque? Well, whatever.

I have phlegm. It's not sexylike. Sucks. So much for trying at laying down another. Ah, well, it's not like I have a fancy mic.

Our tree! [Dec. 13th, 2005|03:56 pm]
[Current Mood | content]

I also updated our wreath to match the tree:

I love the snowmen ribbon! Sosocute. I should have taken a "before" picture of the wreath. The old red velvet ribbon was all smooshed and bald in some spots and there were still shards attached where the old Christmas balls shattered. And my dad just put it up on the door as if it was perfectly fine! It could have put an eye out! Sometimes I wonder about that man. ::shakes head::

OMG GARAGEBAND [Dec. 11th, 2005|07:55 pm]
Dear Santa,

I have been fairly good this year. Okay, a little naughty, but I never went out intentionally trying to hurt anyone. Please bring me a midi keyboard, or one that can connect via USB, to my laptop. It doesn't have to be fancy.

Love,
Kathy

Awright. Well. Back to fiddling with my personal settings.

Apple-picking. [Dec. 10th, 2005|12:20 pm]
[Current Mood | awake]

I'm sitting here, staring at two boxes for a 12" ibook and powerbook, respectively.

I have to clean out my hard drive and put Candy up for sale.

Hrm. Namenamename. I've had a Macie, an Astrid, and a Candy. Hrm.

I was thinking Katara (yayavatar!), but as my name is Katherine I'm kind of worn with anything that has a Kat variation.

I think I'm going to go with Miakoda, which is supposed to be Native American for "Power of the Moon."

Yes, I am a dork.

[Current Music |"Dead Disco" - Metric]

I am supposedly getting a powerbook for xmas, as is my sister depending on how well I can sell her on macs. But I ebay off my wee baby ibook. ::sniffle:: We've had some good times, friend. I mean, aside from that logic-board burn-out and data loss, but that latter thing wasn't actually your fault. ::cradle::

Okay. Gotta shower. I'm going to look at laptops.

Edit: Oh nooo, my mom just said that she'd rather get an ibook 'cause the powerbooks aren't CUTE enough for her. ::rolls eyes::

Separately, for those who don't keep up with my art and locative media blog, I posted Nature Pieces. It was gruelling but fun, although I don't know how much of it came off as "art" to Katie at the time of engagement. I think I might try a few more experiments on my own. I mean, I do have the device, and all. I should look into a serial adapter cable for my mac. And a good program to read in points.

Dreaming [Dec. 7th, 2005|09:29 am]
[Current Mood | okay]
[Current Music |"Monster Hospital" - Metric]

There is this boy that I have been dreaming about since I was eleven. He's been growing up along with me. He has a delicious tan, sort of wavy (but short) black hair, and these sort of weird eyes that are half gold brown and half blue and sort of change in the light. Anyway, I dreamt of him last night. We were riding an open double decker bus with a candystripe tarp, red and white, through the countryside. I don't remember much else, but I do remember I woke up feeling loved.

It was nice, particularly since it wasn't chased by the paralyzing depression that usually follow my happy dreams.
